Latest "Gary's of Chicago" fashion
This was inspired by a giggle-fit Barb Egan and I had on the phone. I've sent this to her, but I'd like to share it with you. Introducing, "Anchors Aweigh" from Gary's of Chicago:

Without the jacket:

Close-up:

This is a yachting outfit consisting of blue twill jacket, white sleeveless turtleneck and white cotton "Dockers" slacks. The jacket is collarless and has a double-row of "brass" buttons, but fastens with snaps. The turtleneck is sleeveless to reduce bulk under the jacket, and snaps in the back. The white slacks also fasten in back with snaps. I put white Tommy shoes on him just for photographic purposes.

Barb and I got to giggling on the phone a while back when I described the pattern I had. Her username here is "Muffy", and I told her I could just hear Gary saying, "Muffy, I think I'll take the yacht for a spin" in a Boston accent. It seemed only fitting I should send the first one to her.

Great outfit Laura! So nice to see new clothes for Gary. We need to get him out of the 70s so he can look FABULOUS next to Dawn in her customs.

How are things up in Illinois? I soooo miss it.

I'm sure you don't miss the cold, Trish, heh heh heh.... it's about 33 degrees right now, and the weatherman said this morning it's going to get colder over the next few days. We may not see the sun again until late next week.

Incumbent governor Pat Quinn won the primary; let's see if he holds onto his office come the election. Closer to home Todd Stroger is out as Cook County Board President (not that it affects me, I live in Kane), and Da Mayor Richard Daley hasn't declared yet if he's going to run again (of course he will, who's he kidding?).

Gas prices are running about $2.55 a gallon. They said on the news yesterday that the cost of natural gas is going up again. I just checked my home heating gas bill this week to find out why it doubled...DOUBLED...from last month to this month. The price per therm went from 47 cents in November to 50 cents in December to 68 cents in January. Holy carp! No wonder I can't get ahead on the dang thing! At least I know by law they can't cut us off, and I am trying to send them something each month. But it's almost worse than a credit card bill!

Lots of good concerts and theatre lined up in the coming weeks. I believe "Jersey Boys" is still playing downtown. And though I never get a chance to see any plays or musicals in Chicago, I'd love to see that one.

Did you know there's a doll shop in Chicago not far from Lisa? Perhaps if you can make it back here sometime we can all go to that. It's a great place! Hope to see you soon!

Hey Laura!

you're right about the cold. I think my blood has gotten thinner since I've been down here. I still own my house in Mascoutah and my son is going to school in Belleville.

We'll be up in the Chicago in the spring checking out the college he wants to transfer to--Western Illinois in Macomb.
So a visit to that doll shop would be great. I love Chicago.

Are you planning a wide range of fashions for Gary? Can't wait to see what you cook up.

Dawn Hugs,

Trish

Laura, I really love that outfit. You managed to de-dork Gary. He looks so sophisticated. It makes him look like Cary Grant! Do you plan on making more of them? If you do, please put me on your waiting list.

I am working on some new duds for Gary. Trying to get enough together to sell here or list on the 'Bay. This will be my efforts to get enough $$ together to go to Ft. Lauderdale in September. I'll let you all know when I'm ready to do business.
