You're done with your reroot? YEAH!!! I want to see a picture.

I've never done eyebrows before... not even a touch up job.

Re: eyebrows
I painted my first eyebrows a couple of weeks ago. They are tough!

I tried Celine's suggestion of using cut straws that you dip in the paint. I found it applied the eyebrows either too thick or too spotty. (Of course that just could have been user error!)

I then tried hand painting with a brush. Still too thick. So I cut down a regular paint brush to only a few strands then tried again. This worked great.

Just take your time and have patience. It took me 3 or 4 times to get the eye brows even.

Have fun and be sure to show us how you did!

Re: eyebrows
Somebody here....who was it, maybe Alliecat?....suggested using a cat's whisker (if you can get one) to paint the eyebrow. I haven't done it myself. Not on a Dawn doll, anyway. I have an Effanbee Honey doll (14" tall hard plastic pre-adolescent girl body) whose eyebrows were totally gone. Gave her a very surprised, disdainful look. I used a very thin, short-bristle brush and it took me about a dozen tries to get the right curvature. The second brow was a little easier, but not much! She has a much sweeter, softer look to her face now.

I also have a 14" Madame Alexander Elise whose eyebrows need to be re-done, in addition to her painted lashes around the eyes. She's been a labor of love, because she came to me in pieces, and I've slowly been getting her put back together. I'm hoping to make time soon (and get up the nerve) to take care of her.

Eyebrows are hard. Just know that you can always wipe it off while the paint's still wet if you don't like how it comes out. Be patient, and give it a go. You can do it!

Re: eyebrows
Hmm, I agree with Peggy. I have taken a very small brush and just snipped and snipped until it looked as though there were only 4 or 5 brush bristles left to it. It also helps you if you can see a faint outline of the doll's original eyebrow.

The thing to do is just take a bit of paint on your barely-there bristles and LITERALLY hold your breath while you paint so you won't move. It usually takes me 4 or 5 careful light dabs before I have a whole Dawn eyebrow.

It can be awful working without the eyebrow outline! I tried giving Dale some eyebrows and she came out looking madder than Dale usually does! Ha! I tried again, and now she has a quizzical, pleading look -- which I kinda like. I'll have to post photos.

I'd love to try a cat's whisker! But nobody I know has kitties, and I wouldn't go up to a neighbor and ask if they could hold their cat still so that I could yank something off the animal's face. I'll have to wait until I run into a poor dead kitty by the side of the road, I guess -- God forbid.

Good luck!

Re: eyebrows
I HATE doing eyebrows - but if I ever HAVE TO do them again, I have an idea I plan to try. I have a used-up (no ink left), very, very thin-tipped Sharpie marker, which I'll dip lightly in black/brown paint. Prior to this, I've been using a pin tip - dot, dot, dot - takes forever, but it worked.

Re: eyebrows
That's right, Lisa, it WAS you! Brilliant idea, btw.

Sue, you don't have to yoink whiskers off a live kitty. I've got nine of them here (the kitties) and I'm always finding them (the whiskers) on the bathroom floor, stuck in the carpet, on the bed... I'll save a few for you.

Laura, you are just about the sweetest sweetie that I know! Thank you, doll! I'd love a whisker or two!

Re: eyebrows
Maria~after pouring the hot water, brushing, drying, brushing again~I am gonna pop a few more plugs in on top~she looked like she needed a bit of rogaine!
eyebrows~when or if ever I get em done~do i use some type of sealant over them?
also, i was having a weird moment....being an xray tech, i am always thinking outside the box to get a patient in a position that may not be possible...
i realized, to me that is~that Dawn's eyebrow is the same size and curvature of my little fingernail. I am thinking of buying a cheap pack of small fake fingernails and using the pinky one as a guide to making any eyebrow......what do you all think? Marnie
