Hi: My name is Liz (AKA LizzyFMU), and I have been collecting Topper Dawn Dolls for about 3 years now (am I still considered a newbie?), and I am still having fun. I got my first Dawn back in June 2001, and it brought back a flood of memories from my childhood. |

My Mother gave me my first Dawn Doll, and she was USED!! It seems that one Saturday night, my older sister Linda and I were staying up to watch M*A*S*H, while my Mom went out to walk Fred our dog. She went over to the neighborhood newsstand for some candy (our usual Saturday night custom) and found a small, dark haired, beautiful doll on the sidewalk. She couldnt resist her, and picked her up and brought her home (sorry to who ever you are who lost your doll in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn in 1971, in front of the Carroll Street Subway Station). |
She cleaned up the doll and her clothes, what a lovely Angie. What can I say; it was love at first sight. My older sister reminds me that I pestered our Mom after that until she bought us the other friends. Every birthday or Christmas or any excuse we could think of, we had to have more dolls and outfits. My Mom even made clothes for us. I wish I had them today The last time I went to my sisters house (Thanksgiving 2003) she showed me a box she found in her basement. Guess what she still had; she had an Angie doll! I bet that it is the "found doll" my Mom found in the 70's. |

When my husband started using EBay, he asked me if there was anything I wanted to search for. As you can guess, the first thing that came into my mind was my long lost friend Dawn. I have gotten most of my dolls on EBay, and have been meeting many in the community through auctions and emails. I am enjoying learning all about the dolls through the great books that are out, and chatting with people online and through emails. I love to browse everyones apartments at Topper Towers. My favorite things so far seem to be the OOAK outfits that all of you have put together. What talent! |
My collection right now consists of almost 75 loose dolls: Family Gals, Models and Majorettes. It is hard to count as they are now in several rooms of my house. They seem to be growing in number all of the time. I have been upgrading my dolls as I go along, getting excellent dolls and clothing and selling off my seconds. I like the loose dolls (I don't collect in the box dolls) because I like to dress and arrange them. I have tried my hand at rerooting, thanks to Babs and her informational web pages. I have been restoring and restyling played with dolls who have been given bad hair cuts when we were children. I enjoy giving them back their classic hair styles. |

When I am not playing with my dolls, I am a Homemaker and Mother of two little boys: Christopher (6 years) and TJ (3 years). To see their web page click here (Chris & TJ) . I have been married now for 12 years, and am still on my honeymoon!! We have been living in our first house now for about 6 years and are always involved in some repair or improvement project. My other interests include cooking, gardening and reading all of the Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell and John Sanford books I can get my hands on. I also enjoy sewing, painting and ceramic work. I love children and was a Kindergarten Teacher for several years before running my own audio business here on Long Island. I am also very interested in aquarium keeping and have a 55 gallon freshwater tank. Right now I am just enjoying my children and my renewed fascination with Dawn. |
| Check back often as I will keep updating my collection, and my wish list. PLEASE email if you have anything to trade, so I can avoid the auctions. Until next time LizzyFMU |
