Yvette is a great friend and an avid doll collector. In celebration of her wedding, some other doll collecting friends wanted to do something special for her. Since Yvette is in California and we are spread around the country, a virtual shower came to mind. This will involve a room box decorated for a bridal shower, including tiny versions of ourselves as the guests and the bride-to-be.
This page will follow the development of a virtual shower we're throwing for Yvette & Ion. At the end of the project, the actual shower scene will be packed up and mailed to the happy couple in California.

~~Love, Louise, Margie, Marcie, Marsha, & Loanne

Monday, July 1, 2002: In the beginning We had just a cruddy ol' room box with a mismatched pile of furniture.

Thursday, July 18th: I'm so excited! Marsha has arrived to help prepare for the shower! The gift she brought is so adorable, a collectible Barbie for Ion to win at the next doll event. Yvette will be so happy! Marsha and I will now choose decorations and arrange the room.

Tuesday, July 30th, A Time to Shop: The girls' minds have turned to shopping! Louise & Marsha have decided to brighten up the room for the shower, shopping for either a fresh color to paint the room, or a pretty wallpaper.

Meanwhile, Yvette's thoughts have turned to the perfect shoes!

Monday, August 19th: Louise and Marsha admire the job they've done on the room. Baby Paige has come to visit, meet Marhsa, and give her approval. The girls are excited it's ready to decorate.

Wednesday, September 4th: The girls decide it's time to get the shower supplies. Marsha meets Austin, who visits Ronald McDonald while the girls shop for shower decorations.

After trying Wal*Mart, Target, & all the usual places, they haven't found quite what they're wanting. Hmmm, time for Marsha to be introduced to the local doll & antique shops!

Finally, the perfect gifts!
Marsha found a very limited edition Topper Dawn Dolls collectors' calendar at the doll shop, which Yvette will love! She decides to put the doll she brought for Yvette into the wall curio for decoration during the shower.
Louise found a rare piece of pottery in an antique shop, which matches Yvette's china pattern. She also plans to adopt a white poodle, which Yvette has wanted for a long time, to complete the new family.

Wednesday, September 18th, Talking With Marcie: Marcie has recieved her invitation to Yvette's "reality" shower, which she shares with the other girls. The girls discuss what fun that will be! They've never attended a glitzy shower. Everyone is envious that Marcie lives close enough to attend! Realistically, this shower will be where Marcie presents the mini shower to Yvette.

Monday, September 30th: Margie's on her way! Margie takes a minute to check her gifts before packing them for the trip. She's spoiling Yvette so badly! First, she bought an awesome cookware set. Naturally, she bought a cookbook & rolling pin to complete the package. Later, she ran across a gorgeous vintage gold mantle clock, which she couldn't pass up, so Yvette will get up for all the doll shows. On a trip to Target, she picked up a gift card for Yvette's little doll splurges. Then, she remembered the magazines she promised to Xerox for Yvette. As a finishing touch, she picked up a Simpsons comic book at the collectibles shop, for Ion. She has quite a lot to deliver!
Margie contacts Louise & Marsha, who are waiting for the other girls to arrive. One last glance in the mirror at her glamorous self, and Margie sets out to Tennessee!

Saturday, October 12th, Final Preparations: Marsha and Louise put the finishing touches on the cake and mix the punch before changing for the shower. Meanwhile, Margie is adding streamers & balloons to the room.

As the other guests mingle, Margie, Louise, & Marsha are excited to welcome Yvette! But who's at the door now?

Disturbance call? No. Oh, but the policeman has another purpose for being here! Yvette, sit back and enjoy your entertainment!

The girls let Yvette lead the way to refreshments.

The happy bride-to-be opens all her gifts.

Marsha-Louise-Yvette-Margie posing for a group pic!

At last, the day has arrived!

Marcie delivered the shower room to Yvette's live shower. Yvette was very surprised! Marcie received a prize for most original gift.
Yvette, we wish you many years of love & laughter!
Many thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to this project!
