Many of you know in the last few weeks we have seen some
occurrences taking place with Checkerboard Toys, and Dawn.
It seems they have to close their door.
At the beginning of the checkerboard era, some collectors were thrilled at the idea of
starting their collections anew.
Other people didn't care for the doll, but were happy to see the name that has
become so familiar and sentimental to them. And then there are those that
think the new Checkerboard Dawn line of dolls, is the best. I myself appreciate the
history of it all - and remain fascinated by the parallels of the two companies that had
a dream .
Topper - Ended after 4 years of production (if you count 1969).
Checkerboard -To end after three years of production .

Checkerboard never had the chance to get a variety of friends produced like
Topper. There were the 30th Anniversary dolls - Dawn, Angie, Glori and Dale.

Then came the Fab Fashion Fun Dolls - Dawn, Shannon, Macy and Denise. The Holiday Dawn Dolls - All Wrapped Up and Holiday Trimmings. (the
latter which came with red hair as well as blonde, I believe). There is the Bridal Belle doll that came as a blonde and brunette.
