  I got a message from Dawn at Joyce's house in Scotland! Here's what she had to say: "Hi Robin! I'm having such a great vacation but am glad I will be coming home quite soon :-) I finally arrived at Joyce's house in Scotland today. She lives in a town called East Kilbride, which is about 10 miles south of Glasgow. Joyce tells me that East Kilbride is what they call a New Town over here. These towns were built up to give good housing to people from Glasgow, away from slums and bad air conditions. East Kilbride in Scotland's biggest and most successful New Town. Joyce tells me that a few famous people come from here. She told me that she knew John Hannah, that guy who read the emotional poem at the funeral in Four Weddings and a Funeral, comes from here and that she went to the same school as him. But Carol, who I stayed with in London, knew him better than Joyce did. Carol kept that one quiet - he was in The Mummy Returns, wasn't he? Movie stars are from all over the place! I have been made so welcome by Pippa and her friends. These Pippas talk in a Scottish accent but are really friendly. I hope you like the photos of me meeting Tammie and Marie, and the one of Pippa singing me some songs and playing her guitar. She really is very good. I ran into Dancing Van - he's emigrated over here ;-) I've also been trying on some of Pippa's clothes. They're not quite as glamorous as my own, but I do like them and they're a perfect fit. Pippa has loaned me her lovely snakeskin print raincoat, which is perfect for the weather here :-) Joyce has told me she is hoping to take me into Glasgow itself, where she works. She would like me to see George Square in the heart of the city, and also Buchanan Street, the best place for shopping - well you know me, don't you?? ;-) She is also hoping to take me to Edinburgh next weekend to show me the Castle. I hope we go as that will be so exciting! Joyce is also going to let me celebrate Halloween - I'll send you a message on Wednesday to tell you all about it :-) Big Hugs, Dawn" xxxx |
