The Freshlook Friends Petites dolls are very similar to the Starr Model Agency dolls, which were also made by Jakks Pacific. (For more information on Starr, please check out Heidi Harrier's
Starr -- Dawns of the 90s
web page. It's the best I've seen.) Head Molds. Freshlook Friends actually share the same head mold numbers as Starr, but the faces are painted with much less makeup (hence, the name "fresh look" I suppose.) Hair. Their hair is much softer and finer than Starr's, and hopefully, won't be as difficult to keep looking new. However, they are shipped with it rubber-banded to their backs, and it leaves some of the finer hair slightly creased. (This may come out with more time.) Body. The body has been updated -- the arms are more rubbery, and are a little more difficult to move around; but the legs are MUCH improved. The knees click hard twice, and hold a great pose. They do have different skin colors, although not quite as distinct as Starr. Shoes. Unfortunately, the shoes have NOT been improved. They will not stay on -- I have left the little clear rubber bands on their feet, so I don't lose the heels. The tennis shoes stay on a little better. I hope to add some more details and comparison photos to this page later. If you know of anything else I should add about them, please let me know! |
